WhatsApp Notifications Not Working? Here’s How to Fix It

If WhatsApp notifications are not showing, not making sound, or delayed on your Android or iPhone, the issue is usually related to app settings, battery saver, network restrictions, or OS notification controls. Follow these steps to fix it fast.

1. Check Notification Settings in WhatsApp

  • Open WhatsApp → Settings → Notifications
  • Enable Message Notifications and Group Notifications
  • Enable Notification Tone and Vibrate

2. Check Phone Notification Settings

Android

  • Settings → Apps → WhatsApp → Notifications
  • Enable all notification channels

iPhone

  • Settings → Notifications → WhatsApp
  • Enable Allow Notifications
  • Turn on Sounds, Banners, and Badges

3. Disable Battery Saver

Battery saver can block WhatsApp from running in the background.

Android

  • Settings → Battery → Battery Saver → Turn Off
  • Battery → App Battery Management → Set WhatsApp to "Unrestricted"

iPhone

  • Settings → Battery → Low Power Mode → Turn Off

4. Disable Background Restrictions

Android

  • Settings → Apps → WhatsApp → Battery
  • Enable Background Activity

iPhone

  • Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Enable for WhatsApp

5. Check Internet Connection

  • Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data
  • Ensure data saver is off
  • Turn Airplane Mode ON then OFF

6. Turn Off Do Not Disturb / Focus Mode

  • Disable DND mode
  • Disable Bedtime or Focus modes on iPhone

7. Clear Cache (Android)

  • Settings → Apps → WhatsApp → Storage → Clear Cache

8. Log Out and Log In on WhatsApp Web

  • Menu → Linked Devices → Log Out from all devices

9. Update WhatsApp

  • Open Play Store / App Store → Update WhatsApp

10. Reinstall WhatsApp (Last Option)

This fixes corrupted files. Backup your chats first:

  • WhatsApp → Settings → Chats → Chat Backup
  • Uninstall and reinstall the app
